Reports surfaced last week that the Houston Texans may be looking for a new general manager after this month’s NFL Draft.
The first replacement candidate on everyone’s mind was 49ers assistant general manager Adam Peters pairing up with first-year Texans head coach Demeko Lyons.
However, Houston’s current general manager, Nick Caserio, has adamant that he will not leave to rejoin the New England Patriots.
“Honestly, I feel like Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street, but I’m not leaving,” Caserio told Houston-area media at the opening before discussing the upcoming NFL Draft. said in the words of
“There has never really been a substantive discussion of this kind.”
Longtime Houston-based NFL reporter John McClane said that Caserio can leave to return to the Patriots After draft. Also, former NFL executive Michael Lombardi said the Texans would have “organizational changes” after the draft.
Peters had worked closely with the Lyons during the time the Texans were with the 49ers, so it was an obvious choice to become the Texans’ top executive.
Peters, General Manager John Lynch’s top human resources man, has been a candidate to open for GM in recent years. In January, he turned down opening interview requests from both the Tennessee Titans and the Arizona Cardinals. The Titans hired former 49ers director of player affairs Lan Carson for the job.

But Caserio said. . . not so soon.
“I feel obligated to make that statement, and I’m trying to stay ahead of[the story],” Caserio said of his possible resignation. I don’t think there’s anything to do or question about it.
“Unfortunately, I think there’s a lot of information and a lot of topics being discussed at this time of year. I think some are more accurate than others and cross multiple landscapes.”
