“Sunset Boulevard” star Nicole Schörtzinger is celebrating the nomination of the best performances by leading actresses in the musical at the 78th Tony’s Meet the Nomination Press Event.
Mona Kosar Abdi of “Extras” spoke with Nicole, “very grateful” for being nominated for her role as Norma Desmond.
She said, “Because I saw ‘Miss Saigon’ and I always dreamed, because I always dreamed, because I always dreamed. And our crafts at that young age? “And I was like, “You’re right.” So being here is beautiful and I just feel very fulfilled. ”
Schörtzinger recalled that when she received the news she felt “really grateful and happy.” She said, “I think I was director Jamie Lloyd. I faceted me from London. Like I said, I’ve come a long way from Little Nicole.
She continued. “It makes a lot of sense, and it’s a different type of show. I mean, as Norma says, it breaks all the rules, it’s pioneering in its own way, it transforms in its own way. I’m proud of the work we’ve done. A place of truth.”
Of what she keeps moving on with her strict Broadway schedule, she said, “I’ve never been exhausted all the time, but I’ve never been more fulfilled. It’s what I asked for, what I prayed for, and I’m ready to go up 110% each time.
She said, “I had a lot of things to give inside and lots to give. I can give eight shows every night. I love it. I’m very proud of my legacy. I’m a Hawaiian, Ukrainian, Filipino descent.
Nicole also just attended her first Met Gala on Monday. She said, “I always dreamed of going to the Met, so I was invited to Prabal Gurung dressed up and wore this beautiful dress and jacket.
Schörtzinger also shared her reaction to the new Pope. She said, “I loved Pope Francis so deeply… He was a game-changing Pope for all of us, and was such a blessing, so I’m excited to read and learn about our new Pope, Pope Leo. Wow, that’s crazy!”
