Jelly Roll chatted with “Extra’s” Alecia Davis on the red carpet of the 58th Annual CMA Awards, where he showed off his weight of over 100 pounds. Weight loss.
“I feel great,” he told Davis. “I feel great. I weigh 100 pounds, lighter than when I was on this carpet, more than 100 pounds, I don’t know the exact number, but maybe last year when I was on this carpet. I’m about 120 pounds lighter than I was.”
The singer claimed: Next year I will be even lighter and will continue to work hard. Well, I’m having the best time of my life. I didn’t want to do it in the dark. I’ve always been an honest person, so I wanted to be honest about my struggle with obesity. ”
Jelly Roll added, “Most people would have gone and hidden away and tried to lose weight. I was just like, ‘They see it happening, so let’s talk about it.’ It was. I hope this work inspires other great people that we can change and that it is possible. ”
He was also intrigued by his recent collaboration with Prince Harry to create a hilarious promotional video for the Invictus Games, in which Prince Harry inked a (fake) tattoo on the Duke of Sussex’s neck.
“Prince Harry…what a guy!” he gushed. “The Duke of Sussex, hey, he’s the man! He was great. What a sweet guy. I don’t know how familiar you are with the Invictus Games, but what they’re doing in this game. It’s truly one of the greatest acts of humanity I’ve ever seen, bringing people together and honoring people who deserve it, and I’m honored to be able to do it.”
Jelly Roll also talked about his achievements leading up to winning Best New Artist at the CMAs in 2023 and being nominated for Entertainer of the Year in 2024.
“That’s a big jump,” he said, adding, “You don’t realize how big of a jump it is until you’re at the moment of the jump. You think, ‘Hey, this is totally different.'” “”
Although he ultimately lost to Morgan Wallen, Jelly Roll has more awards shows planned for the future. The singer has also been nominated for a Grammy again, calling the honor “surreal.”
He said, “Do you know what an incredible year this has been? Right now Ronnie Dunn is walking beside me and I’m singing ‘Believe’ with them on Brooks & Dunn’s album ‘Reboot II.’ ‘ How crazy is that?’
