The first American Pope’s celebration turned into a feast of rage among maga figures like Laura Rumer once his opinion became clear. The newly crowned Pope Leo XIV publicly criticised both President Donald Trump and Vice President of X JD Vance before Conclave, and his left-leaning posts don’t end there. The right-wing character quickly declared him “woke up,” wondering how long the Pope term would last.

The new Pope is not considered as left-handed as the old Pope, but Pope Francis was elected when the general political atmosphere of the United States was a bit less extreme. Today, anyone who is not Pope Trump gets a hatred brigade.
Laura Rumer declares Leo XIV “Woke Marxist Pope”
After a bit of trouble finding consensus, Conclave selected Chicago’s Cardinal Robert Provost as the new head of the Catholic Church on May 8, 2025. Laura Rumer, a far-right character, first denounced Leo and declared him a “wake Marxist.”
“This is the new Pope!” she wrote on May 8th. “His name is Robert Prevost. He is the first American Pope. He is an anti-Trump, anti-Maga, Pro-Open border, and is a complete Marxist like Pope Francis. Catholics don’t look forward to it.
She later delved into his posts, which have been sharing the words of Trump’s fellow cardinal since 2015. Washington Post The article entitled “Why Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric is so problematic” didn’t sit with her, so she replied, “Awakened Marxist Pope.”
She and other MAGA members also took the exception to a more recent shot at Vance. On February 3rd of this year, he shared an article by a national Catholic reporter entitled “JD Vance Is Forn: Jesus Don’t Ask Us to Rank Love for Others.” This is more hot for Vance considering him Conversion to Catholicism 2019.
In addition to screenshots from both of these posts, Loomer shared Leo’s denunciation of the 2019 white nationalist “Unity” march in Charlottesville, Virginia. She lamented the new Pope, “There’s nothing to celebrate.”
“What do you want to do?” she asked. “Would you like to blow smoke away and cry to the pope who supports the massive movement and boundary?”

“Conservatives love losing. They love it!”
“Open Border Globalist”
Laura Rumer is not the only person who hates the new Pope. Right-wing political commentator and former gamergate, Mike Sernovich jumps into Leo’s retweet. This supports gun control actions beyond thoughts and prayers, and calls for the mistaken immigrant Kilmer Abrego Garcia to return to the huge prison in El Salvadoria.

“Sorry, Catholic. This new Pope is an open border globalist,” he insisted. “He’s immediately pushing for abortion. This is not a speculation. You can scroll through his X account and see what he’s doing.”

Meanwhile, federal player Sean Davis, founder of the Right-wing outlet, said that he had allowed the election of the Western European Pope on the left to use the Roman Catholic Church to counter the rise of national populism in general, and the rise of Trump in particular, and strengthen the power of globalists against those who believe in the country’s purpose.
“The new Pope was born in America, not Western Europe, so I was on the wrong score, but I’m worried that I wasn’t wrong about the rest,” he concluded.
Popular right-wing Italian-American X-user Joey Mannarino pronounced the new Pope “worst than Francis.”

“So the new Pope recently attacked JD Vance, showing solidarity with Kilmer Abrego Garcia and asking Trump to open the borders that Biden had,” he pointed out.
Conversely, a celebration
Whenever political rights are sad and angry, it is almost inevitable that the left party. Liberal and left-wing social media users rub it and celebrate it like the Cubs won the World Series.

“The Pope woke up,” he recited. @sportswaatcher For that pre-bust post about Vance.
“If the American Pope wakes up too much, they will wait until they find out about Jesus.” @timhannan.
user @tazerface16 Perhaps he evoked Leo’s first red laser eye compilation, the dark Brandon, and made something that laughed “a magazine that’s now blending in about the new ‘awakening’ pope.”
At age 69, Pope Leo XIV should be there for some time. Maybe next time, Laura.
