The trailer for “Grotesquerie” has been released, giving fans their first glimpse at Travis Kelcy’s acting debut.
The teaser begins with a car driving down a road at dusk, then cuts to a swarm of police cars with flashing lights.
We hear Niecy Nash say, “I don’t know how it started, it’s like a hole opened up in the world, into the center of nothingness.”
Disturbing images flash across the screen, including crows, scorpions and a meat grinder, a woman screams and a floating nun.
Religious imagery of crosses is used liberally throughout the film, and at one point a woman says, “The killer preaches, he preaches, he preaches. To understand this monster, you must decipher these murders.”
Niecy is then heard to say, “Something is happening around us.”
Just then, Travis appears on screen, moving his hands in front of his face.
The show is set to premiere on FX on September 25th, and Ryan Murphy Productions teased the horror drama on Instagram, revealing that Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville will also star.
The trailer includes eerie audio of Niecy’s character apparently telling someone on the phone, “What I saw today… they sent a psychiatrist to everyone who worked at this crime scene. They say, ‘Yeah, evil has always existed,’ and they cite statistics that the world is getting better, less murder, more help, less global fear, and they say, ‘It’s never been a better time to be alive.’ Come back. Things aren’t getting better. I need to keep hearing your answers. Because something is happening all around us and no one is seeing…except me.”
