Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is poised to host its first ever WTA-sanctioned women’s tennis tournament.

Entitled ‘Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open’, the tournament will be held at the International Tennis Center in Zayed Sports City.
On Monday, the Women’s Tennis Association and IMG announced that the United Arab Emirates capital is the latest destination to host the world’s professional women’s tennis tour.
The women’s tennis tour, the WTA 500, is the first ongoing WTA-sanctioned tour event to be held in the emirate, bringing together the world’s top female players.
Abu Dhabi will host the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, scheduled to run from 5-12 February 2023.
street arab newsthe tournament is organized in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and investment group Mubadala.
The event will feature one of the top female players in the world, No. 2 Oz Jabbar, at the International Tennis Center in Zayed Sports City.
Jabbar, who won the Mubadala World Tennis Championships Exhibition in Abu Dhabi in 2021 and also won last year, said: “I’m really excited to be playing in Abu Dhabi again. I hope we can continue to win at these great venues.”
Over the course of eight days, the tournament will feature more than 60 singles and doubles matches, plus a variety of activities including tennis-themed games and player Q&A sessions.
The event continues the WTA’s 50th anniversary celebrations. Tickets start at AED 50 for adults, with full tournament packages available at a 15% discount. Meanwhile, her children under the age of 12, accompanied by a ticket holder, are admitted free for her first four days.
