Apple is scheduled to announce a new version of the iPhone SE this year, and reports of dummy models are starting to surface. Sonny Dixon recently released images of a dummy model of the iPhone SE 4, giving a glimpse of its design potential. For those unfamiliar, dummy models are non-working prototypes created by case manufacturers based on leaked information from Apple’s partner factories.
The race to manufacture cases for new devices is lucrative, and historically these leakage models have proven accurate in many cases.
There has been speculation that the next iPhone SE will look similar to the iPhone 14, and that idea is backed up by leaked images. This design features an iPhone-14 style chassis with an aluminum frame, glass back, and SLR camera.
There has been discussion about the possibility of the iPhone SE 4 incorporating an action button or camera control button similar to the one found on the iPhone 16 model. However, these features are not represented in the current dummy model. This does not completely eliminate the possibility of these features being included, but it does make it less likely as case manufacturers will have to design with these features in mind.
The new iPhone SE is primarily referred to as the iPhone SE 4, but recent rumors suggest that Apple may choose the name iPhone 16E.
In addition to the visible features of the dummy model, the iPhone SE is expected to have a more powerful A17 Pro chip with support for Apple Intelligence, an Apple-designed modem chip, and 8GB of RAM. It only has one camera, but it utilizes the same 48-megapixel wide camera found in the current iPhone 16.

The iPhone 17 series consists of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Slim, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max models and is expected to launch later this year. In recent months, there has been a fair amount of speculation surrounding the iPhone Slim, also known as the iPhone 17 Air.
According to a recent leak, the upcoming iPhone 17 series may showcase a redesigned aesthetic compared to its predecessor.
