Philadelphia – It’s a disparity, if not as old as time-honored, at least as old as the average American experience in high school. Wrestler and basketball player. And when President Donald Trump returns to Pennsylvania, the keystone of the swing state sweep, it’s no surprise that it’s happening at the NCAA Wrestling Championship.
Like Eagles head coach Nick Sigliani, Trump seemed to have ended just a few years ago. But just as the birds ultimately held the Lombardi trophy high, Trump returns to Philadelphia in victory.

The Center City hotels and restaurants were packed with wrestling families this week. At the Elite Division I level, wrestlers, coaches and even fathers seemed like squats, solid, muscular types that could break cinder blocks in most cases.
I had played basketball at high school in Philadelphia and joked that we were all separated from wrestlers. He assured me, “Yeah, that’s still like that.”

Appearing in the final of Saturday’s Grappling Tournament is a very smart politics from the White House. Like all of Trump’s regular appearances at combat sports events, Trump was guaranteed to erupt Eige, but this time it was one of the American bluest cities.
Now, the cynician might point out that most of the people attending the event are not from Philadelphia. That’s true. But, Penn State, meanwhile, was all over town this week. The university is an absolute great power in sports.
Columnist Sarena Jeet forgot that it’s not Filily Pennsylvania more than most people know, but Senator Dave McCormick was Matt’s star in explaining the usual scene at Bloomsburg High School:
“Wrestling here is everything. All you have to do is go to a wrestling match here and try to find a place to stand, let alone sit,” she said.

Certainly, Philadelphia is known for its Big 5 Basketball College, a match-up zone between Wilt Chamberlain and Temple. But in other parts of the state, wrestling and soccer are the kings.
I was more cautious than usual about nurturing politics. All of these families spent thousands of dollars coming to Philadelphia to talk about wrestling rather than appearing in the “McLaughlin Group.” But when I asked if they were excited about the president coming, everyone enthusiastically said yes.
“It’s a real honor for the boy,” the Iowa Wrestling mom told me. There was no need to ask where someone came from.
What I learned about wrestling at the highest level in these chats explained why Trump is so popular among sports athletes and enthusiasts.
These wrestlers are undoubtedly the best and hardest-working athletes in America. That’s certainly what the ancient Greeks thought. But there’s no professional draft day when they’re being taken away millions of dollars.
These guys are in the gym 15 times a day, because they love it, even if they’re not allowed to wear trash bags to make weight anymore. And that’s exactly the kind of effort and dedication that many Trump voters see in the president.
In October, I wrote on these pages that Philadelphia is the Alamo of Kamala Harris.
Now, how hatred is hatred, and honestly, it is primarily from the left, allowing Americans who love or hate Trump hanging out in peace and harmony.
She has acquired the city of brotherhood. Because, like Nancy Pelosi once put it, it was filled with water with D after the name won in Philadelphia. However, Harris didn’t win enough to make up for the big losses for the rest of the Commonwealth.

Until recently, the American disparity separated people who thought Trump would be effective if he was a little above him, and those who were worried about him becoming an authoritarian.
Today, it’s between those who think Trump is a great president and a complete halt, and those who truly believe he’s already become a dictator. It is a much bigger Gulf Coast, explaining the anger and violence we have seen more and more.
There were occasional parties and events in high school, and wrestlers were there with ballet. In the right circumstances, you can tolerate and enjoy each other’s company.

But that doesn’t mean that it won’t happen. After all, this old basketball guy had a great time with the wrestling crowd. Even if I’ve ever been, please check the marching mad brackets badly on my phone.
