Ben Stiller plays a straight-laced, hard-working man who suddenly finds himself in charge of his mischievous orphaned nephews in the new holiday movie The Nutcracker.
The film, starring Linda Cardellini and the Janson brothers for the first time, was filmed on the boys’ real-life farm in Ohio.
“Extra’s” Mona Kosar Abdi sat down with Ben and two of his young co-stars, Arlo and Homer, to talk about the experience.
Ben spoke about stepping into the boys’ real world: When David Gordon Green told me that he was inspired by these kids and was going to make this movie around them and shoot it on a farm with them playing themselves, they… I had never worked as an actor before, but that was it for me. Yeah, it was like I was there. Let’s go. Let’s see what happens. ”
Mr Stiller described the farm as a “magical paradise”, adding: “It’s kind of like a never-neverland, with animals and games and always something fun going on…I just want to live there all the time.”
Homer considered putting in a camera and said: I feel very special. ”
Homer’s family farm has goats, cats, dogs, peacocks, chickens, guinea pigs, and pigs.
Ben said: “Every day was an adventure. There were animals coming in and out of the house, so you never knew what was going to happen.”
“It could be a child coming in, or it could be a pig,” Homer said jokingly.
“Yes, you’re right,” Ben replied.
“The Nutcracker” will be available on Hulu starting November 29th.
