Grammy-nominated country music artist Mickey Guyton appeared on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” this week to talk about his son’s near-death experience in 2021.
This harrowing ordeal inspired her new single ‘Scary Love’.
Mickey detailed what happened after his performance at the 2021 CMAs.
“The next day, when I got home, my son had a stomach bug and I didn’t know what it meant,” she said. A subsequent visit revealed that he was suffering from sepsis. ”
“My dear friend, Dr. Nathan Ford, a black doctor…I remember sending him a picture of my son because his eyes were sunken into his face, like he couldn’t stand the fact that he was losing consciousness. Because I saw it,” Mickey continued. . “Nate and he called the doctors at Santa Monica Reagan Hospital to get us a bed in the middle of the coronavirus. We were living in downtown Los Angeles at the time and we were stuck in Los Angeles traffic. This was nothing short of a godsend as we drove from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica, which is about 20 minutes away. ”
When they arrived, Mickey’s son was unconscious. She admitted: “It was truly one of the scariest moments in my life and as her mother.”
Mr. Guyton recalled his son’s entrance. I was very dehydrated. ”
As for what was going on in his head, Mickey said, “I remember looking at the nurse and choking out, ‘Is he going to die?'” Then the doctor said: “I’m not going to lie. He’s the sickest person in the ER right now.”
When Mickey heard that, he just prayed. “And as a mother, after going through something like that, I realized why mothers were so obsessed with us. I couldn’t understand, ‘Why are moms so dumb? Is that weird?’” she emphasized. And now you know. In that moment, I definitely would have done anything to save his life, and that’s where this song comes from. ”
Mickey’s latest film, Scary Love, currently in theaters, depicts the deep bond between a mother and her child.
