Me: Can I ask about some of the topics you covered?
Roberson: Kate, what do you want?
Ohashi: What I thought was really cute was the question, “What are each other’s green flags?” Basically, it’s about the great things we noticed and observed from everyone on this tour.
Roberson: I said Kate is very comfortable and true to herself. She is very confident about who she is and isn’t afraid to let others know.
Ohashi: Besides Hesley who comes and goes, Joss is the youngest girl on tour now. She’s only just started college–what, a few weeks? –Already it seems like she will become a very powerful university–
Lee: leader!
Ohashi: leader. she knows exactly what to say. She’s really clear and gets straight to the point. And I feel like when something happens during the show, she can bring everyone together and say something that cheers everyone up.
Lee: We call her Joss the Boss. Boss baby.
Ohashi: [laughing] Boss baby!
Lee: But it’s very well earned. She’s like a little captain and brings a lot of college energy to the sport, which is a lot of fun.
Me: So how do you think the experience of being on this tour is different from participating in a regular gymnastics competition or competition?
roberson: That’s completely different. When you participate in competitions and tournaments, you are doing it for yourself. Yes, there is someone coming to see you, but it is your goal, your dream. But here we’re doing it for the fans. We want everyone who comes to see us to have a good time.
This is a moment for us to enjoy. We’ve accomplished everything we’ve worked for, so this is our reward.
