The popular instant messaging app known as WhatsApp will no longer be supported on certain older smartphone devices after December 31, 2022.
A total of 49 models will no longer support the app, including two iPhones and multiple models from Samsung, LG, and Huawei.
What is WhatsApp?
WhatsApp is an instant messaging app used to send messages, photos, videos and audio files. Features such as group chat, voice messaging, and location sharing have made it very popular over the years and is commonly used among people who want to message friends living in other countries.
It works just like any other messaging app on your smartphone (i.e. the iMessage app for iPhone). However, the main difference is that WhatsApp uses the internet to send these messages and there are no charges.
How to block popups on Android
This means you need an internet connection to use WhatsApp. This app can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play Store. It’s also free to use.
However, if you use WhatsApp to make international calls, you may be charged based on your mobile plan or internet service provider. Also, using his WhatsApp to send messages abroad may charge data usage depending on your mobile plan.
Why is WhatsApp ending support for these smartphones?
WhatsApp experts, like many other apps, regularly update the app to add new features and ensure a better and more enhanced experience for users.
These updates are also intended to support newer models of iPhone, Android, and other devices that are frequently introduced. Technology is advancing rapidly, changing from old to new, requiring all companies to keep up with each other.
