Nashville forward Michael McCarron is available to the Predators after joining the NHL and the NHL Players Association’s Player Assistance Program.

The NHL and the NHL Players Association announced Wednesday that McCarron has returned to work after receiving care through a joint player assistance program. McCarron will continue to be available for any necessary follow-up his care as needed.

McCarron, 27 Join the December 11th Program Without the League and Union specifying the reason. He appeared in his 15 appearances, scoring 1 goal and on 21 shots he recorded 1 assist.

The NHL and NHLPA launched their Player Assistance Program in 1996, giving players access to confidential phone lines and counselors in each city within the league. The co-funded group will help players and their families with mental health, substance abuse and other issues.

The Predators (21-17-6) are now just outside the second wildcard spot in the Western Conference, taking the game three points behind Calgary. They visit St. Louis on Thursday night.
