Soroka’s transaction 1 year The Nationals acquired him for $9 million with the plan to use him as a starter.
Soroka looked like a budding star before they went back to back. Achilles’ tears I kept him out for years. It will be interesting to see how the Nationals use Soroka. He has traditionally been a starter, but was most effective last season as a multiple reliever. However, the Nationals believe this accomplishment could lead to a rotation.
As a reliever, Soroka appeared in 16 games, pitching 36 innings and posting a 2.75 ERA. Most notably, he struck out 60 batters in 36 innings. Soroka’s control hasn’t been the same since the injury, but he might find something as he gets further away from the injury. He is an interesting player for the Nationals and has untapped potential. Those expecting Mike Soroka in 2019 may be disappointed, but he has the potential to be a valuable asset.
