2023 World Aquatics Championships
The 2023 World Aquatics Championships will award a minimum of $5.67 million (USD) in prize money this summer, with a $30,000 world record bonus to boost the prize pool even further.
The prize system and totals per event are exactly the same as last year’s Budapest Championships, with the only caveat being that the world record bonus will be reduced from $50,000 to $30,000.
There will also be a difference in the number of events contested, reducing the total prize pool from $5,720,000 to $5,670,300.
- High diving, which was removed from the schedule last year, is back (+$127,800)
- Two fewer open water events, men’s and women’s 25km removed (-$120,000)
- There will be two more solo/duet artistic swimming events (+$120,000)
- 1 less Synchro Team Event (-$177,500)
At the 2022 Championships in Budapest, Hungary Christoph Mirak He won $92,500 in pool swimming, won two gold medals in the men’s 100 fly and 200 fly, and won the world record bonus of $50,000 in the men’s 200 fly, making him the top prize money holder.
Another individual world record holder at the event, the Italian Thomas Cecconwhich ranked second at just over $87,500, Katie Ledecky Leading the women overall with $63,333.33. I also cracked the 50K marker Leon Marchand ($56,850), Sarah Sjostrom ($56,500), Summer Mackintosh (56,428.57) and Molly O’Callaghan ($52,583.33).
Prize money for relay competitions is the same as for individuals, but the totals are per relay team rather than per player (which is why some players separate their totals in cents).
