Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield capped off a busy bye week by joining The Pat McAfee Show on Friday and appearing as a guest picker on College GameDay live from Austin, Texas, on Saturday. During the broadcast, he not only previewed the Red River rivalry between Oklahoma State and Texas, but also had some free-spirited fun.

Given the opportunity to share his thoughts on the game, Baker Mayfield’s favorite defeated Texas 34-30 in a game.Mayfield was appropriately dressed and fired his blaster – twice.
Baker Mayfield remains committed to football
Despite people discrediting Baker Mayfield with some of his antics, he takes the game of football seriously. Bucks general manager Jason Licht recently praised Baker Mayfield as a “very, very smart guy.” Mayfield’s big personality has angered some people, but he is solid when it comes to preparing each week.

“For me, it’s like, I love having a big personality outside of the football game,” Mayfield said on The Pat McAfee Show. “When I’m in a meeting, I’m trapped. Anyone who’s ever worked with me or been in a boardroom knows how seriously I take it. I know there are.
“The best thing about football is the relationships. It’s the friendships, it’s the banter with your mates, it’s just having fun playing football. I think that’s what people wanted to emphasize about my individuality. That’s okay because they can’t work with me either.”
Mayfield is more prepared for any game than you might think. Take his note-taking habits as an example. “I’m a bit crazy. I highlight everything. Different colors have different meanings. I use my iPad to take notes, and I like to write them down and read them back.”
When Mayfield isn’t using highlighter, he takes time to bond with many of his Bucks teammates. That’s nothing new to him, dating back to his own days as an Oklahoma Sooner.
“I’ve been doing it for a while. I did it in college, and it’s just, you know, getting to know your teammates and fighting for each other. One person does the job. It takes a lot more time than it does. The more you can do and show support for your peers outside of the facility, the better. It’s a team sport at its best. There is a reason.”
Whether he was in the Bahamas with his offensive linemen, sitting writing notes or firing a blaster, Mayfield summed up how much the game and the relationships meant to him.
“I’m a football guy.”
