According to the National Weather Service, a blizzard developing over the northeastern plains is set to continue through the rest of the day into tonight. , road closures also occur. Much of the Eastern Plains region faces severe travel problems due to the weather to date.
Predictive services are telling Coloradoans to avoid traveling east, northeast, and southeast of Denver all day and into the night on Tuesday. Strong winds of 45 to 60 mph blow snow and severely limit visibility. On the other hand, chills below freezing are expected tonight.
Snow forecast maps now show about 8 to 12 inches of additional snow in parts of northeastern Colorado, with areas around Akron expected to be hit hardest. Meanwhile, more snow is also expected in the northern mountains, which could make travel in central and northern Colorado difficult.
Currently, the heavily populated I-25 corridor seems to be largely overlooked, but temperatures are cooler and light snowfall is possible.
