Newly built homes have a reputation for being of lower quality than older homes, and many homeowners are noticing the difference.

According to 2022 data According to Real Estate Witches, the majority of Americans who buy a new home regret their decision.
The report found that 89% of surveyed buyers (out of 1,000 respondents) experienced untimely repairs or maintenance issues after moving into a newly built home. Additionally, only 48% of people who bought a new home think it was a good investment.
Reflecting these concerns, TikTok creators and home inspectors regularly expose hidden flaws commonly found in new homes. Recently, he highlighted some issues with the new $370,000 home.
What did he notice in the bathroom of his new house?
When TikTok user Randle (@inspector_randle), a Texas-based home inspector, shared a video explaining to viewers the defects he found in a newly built home, the video went viral, receiving more than 1.1 million views. The number of views was recorded.
“I almost thought we had a good result today,” Randle began. “It started off well. Then it went downhill.”
The problem quickly became apparent, starting with a leak from a tube under the sink. Randall shows water spilling out when he turns on the faucet.
“The garbage disposal machine does not work, but it is connected to the power supply, but there is power,” he pointed out, revealing yet another breakdown.
Then there’s the bathroom mirror, which appears to have a power plug placed directly in its center. The outlets themselves are also partly made of mirror material, blending into the surface.
“I don’t want to know whose idea this was or who approved it,” Randle says, confused. “I can’t even understand how I look at this right now. Why would I want that? It gets in the way of your face.”
That’s not the only problem
As he moved through the house, he checked the top of the shower and was initially impressed. “Oh, they actually sealed it,” he says. However, upon closer inspection, I found areas where the sealant was missing. “Oh, don’t worry about it.”
In the basement, he pointed out that the insulation was uneven and messy and explained how the insulation should have been laid evenly throughout the area.
“Someone walked across this insulation or something,” he says. “It should be about 14 to 16 overall. That’s not true.”
Randle also found broken straps and, in other places, gaps between wooden rafters and the bridge, problems that he said are common in new construction.
Finally, he moves outside and examines the cable after tensioning, where the protective seal has been removed. “The whole thing should be sealed and it should be like a little cap of mortar in there, like this, just like that,” he said, pointing to an example of it done correctly.
What do viewers think?
In the comments, users were confused by the mirror outlet. Still others said they were not impressed with the quality of the homes.
One user said, “It’s too much extra work just to put an outlet in there.”
“I know the new building doesn’t want you coming,” another quipped.
“Hey, anything cheap is $370,000,” said a third man.
