President-elect Trump has named several key first-term allies to roles in his second term, including Richard Grenell.

Mr. Grenell was selected by the president-elect to be special presidential envoy for special assignments, a position likely to advance the administration’s policies in some of the world’s most contentious regions.

“Rick will be working in some of the hottest regions in the world, including Venezuela and North Korea,” President Trump said in an announcement Saturday night.

Grenell served as intelligence director during President Trump’s first administration.

“During my first term, Rick served as U.S. Ambassador to Germany, Acting Director of National Intelligence, and Special Presidential Envoy for Kosovo and Serbia Negotiations,” Trump said. “Previously, he spent eight years inside the United Nations Security Council, helping develop North Korea and many other countries.”

President Trump also announced the selection of Edward Sharpe Walsh as U.S. ambassador to Ireland.

“Edward is president of the Walsh Company, a highly successful national construction and real estate company. He is a great philanthropist in his local community and previously served as chairman of the New Jersey School Development Authority,” President Trump said. “It was announced.”
