The Colorado Democrat majority pushed the controversial gender and abortion bill slate Sunday, cutting down floor debates that Republican lawmakers called “unprecedented” tactics.
“We need to be vigilant for all Americans (the days that are normally reserved for family and prayers) that the majority of Colorado used Sunday.
Pugliese said that “weekend work” is “a tactic used by the majority to punish minorities,” but this time it was “unprecedented” especially due to the nature of the bill.

“There was no filibuster or delay. It’s a critical effort to close debate over the law that directly affects parental rights, public safety and the use of taxpayer dollars,” she said.
The bills passed include SB25-183, which requires taxpayers to fund abortion services. HB25-1309, insurance companies require transgender procedures regardless of age. HB25-1312 imposes state-mandated gender policies on schools, and considers “forced control” in child custody cases where parents do not affirm their child’s gender identity. SB25-129 prohibits cooperation with out-of-state investigations on transgender procedures and abortion services.
Four bills were debated on the floor for more than 12 hours last week, according to Monica Duran, the state capitol majority Democratic leader.

“The minority provided dozens of corrections at that point,” Duran told Fox News Digital. “In the end, Coloradan has performed his clear duties and elected a key Democrat. And the session requires people to do their jobs every day, with only 120 days.”
“It included yesterday passing legislation to protect abortion rights and implement amendment 79 approved by voters, passed in nearly 62% last November.”
Other Democrats in Congress who wrote the bill passed see them as a way to protect the 100th anniversary from Trump administration policies.

“Now is the time to fight back against out-of-state interference and the Trump administration to limit abortion and health care in LGBTQ+ Coloradan,” SB25-129 sponsor Rep. Karen McCormick of D-Longmont said in a statement.

“Despite the Trump administration’s efforts to completely dismantle or limit abortion access, Coloradan believes that access to the reproductive care you need is your constitutional right,” said Democrat Lorena Garcia, a sponsor of SB5-183.
“The bill will expand access to life-saving reproductive care, including abortion,” Garcia said in a statement.
The bill is now heading to the democratically controlled state Senate for consideration.
