Former President Trump criticized President Biden’s handling of inflation in a late-night social media post, joking that President Biden’s “economic disaster” was due to the downsizing of Snickers bars.

In a series of posts on Truth Social late Friday night, President Trump suggested that “corporate greed” is the main reason why prices remain high, and went after Biden, who is likely to be his overall rival. .

“Incredibly, Crooked Joe appeared on TV last week and declared in an interview that Americans could actually afford that brutal inflation tax. He said his family ‘has money to spend,’ Biden then blamed his economic misery on the downsizing of businesses. “Snickers bars,” President Trump said. I have written.

“But Americans aren’t struggling to make ends meet because they’re buying too many Snickers bars. They’re struggling because we have the worst, most incompetent, most corrupt president this country has ever had. “There is,” he added.

His remarks refer to remarks made by Biden in a sit-down interview with CNN last week. The incumbent suggested he is “committed” to reining in companies on what he calls “shrinkflation.”

“If you look at what people have, they have money to spend. Having to spend more makes them angry, and it makes me angry,” Biden said. “He’s 20% cheaper for the same price. That’s corporate greed. That’s corporate greed. And we have to deal with it. And that’s what I’m working on.”

Inflation slowed in April, falling by about 3.4%, according to data released by the Labor Department. Food prices also fell last month for the first time in a year.

Despite the decline, Americans still cite inflation and the high cost of living as the “most important economic issue facing” their families, according to a Gallup poll from early May.

In the run-up to the general election, various polls found that Americans trust Trump more than Biden on the economy and his handling of inflation. About 46% of Americans say they trust the former president on the economy, and 32% say the same about Biden, according to an ABC News/Ipsos poll released in early May.

In another post on Truth Social, Mr. Trump also criticized Mr. Biden for the inability of young Americans to make rent, car payments, or buy a home.

“One of the most pernicious effects of the Biden inflation tax is that Crooked Joe has made it impossible for millions of Americans, especially young Americans, to buy a home, a car, or even pay rent. ” President Trump said. “High inflation means high prices, high interest rates, high mortgage rates, and the death of the American dream.”

“Despite Biden’s statements, the American people cannot endure his inflationary nightmare. We certainly cannot afford another four years of crooked Joe Biden,” Trump added.
