President-elect Trump announced Tuesday that he will appoint Dr. Mehmet Oz as administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in January.

“America is facing a medical crisis, and there may be no doctor more qualified and capable than Dr. Oz to make America healthy again,” Trump said in a statement. “He is a renowned physician, heart surgeon, inventor, and world-class communicator who has been at the forefront of healthy living for decades.”

“Dr. Oz will work closely with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to address the disease-industrial complex and all the terrible chronic diseases left in its wake,” the statement added. “Our broken health care system is hurting ordinary Americans and straining our budget.”
