MARINA, Calif. (KION-TV) – Marina Police arrested three suspects Monday afternoon on suspicion of manufacturing and distributing counterfeit money.

Officers said the incident occurred at a retail store in the 100 block of Beach Road when a woman reported trying to hand over a $100 bill.

Investigators said the woman fled the scene before police arrived.

Officers located the suspect’s vehicle in the 3200 block of Dunes Drive at a local hotel. Marina police contacted the man in the car, who initially gave a false name.

Investigators said the suspect, Daniel Henson, 35, of Sacramento, was found to have an outstanding warrant in Sacramento County. Marina police were able to identify the first suspect as Melanie Rose Dobbs Mendoza, 35, of Sacramento.

When police searched the vehicle, they found controlled substances and controlled substance paraphernalia, along with multiple $100 bills.

Marina Police said they have identified a third suspect, identified as 60-year-old Scott Christian Siebel of Sacramento.

Investigators said Siebel had an outstanding warrant out of Sacramento County for producing counterfeit goods.

All three suspects were booked into the Monterey County Jail on multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit a felony. Dobbs-Mendoza and Henson were also charged with other charges, including possession of counterfeit goods and drug violations.
