NASA astronaut Shane Kimbrough, currently aboard the International Space Station, turned in his ballot in Tuesday’s presidential election. According to NASA’s Tumblr post.

NASA told Yahoo News Kimbrough submitted ballots from the space station in the past few days in the 2016 election.

The voting process for astronauts in space on Election Day begins one year before launch. You can then choose which elections you want to participate in.

Then, six months before the election, astronauts will be provided with a form entitled “Voter Registration and Absentee Ballot Application – Federal Postcard Application.”

NASA astronaut David Wolfe was the first American to vote in space while on Russia’s Mir space station in the 1997 local elections. According to NPR.
