Public Opinion: How Chinese People Feel About Other Countries

Tensions over Taiwan, the COVID-19 pandemic, trade and the war in Ukraine are affecting China’s feelings toward other countries.

In this visualization, the Center for International Security Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University ranked survey responses on the attitudes of the Chinese public toward countries and regions around the world.

China’s feelings toward other countries in 2023

A poll conducted by the Center, which randomly sampled more than 2,500 adults in mainland China in November 2022, found: Russia Came out quite a while ago.

The survey also found that 39% of Chinese get information about international security from Chinese state media (mostly TV), and another 19% get information from government websites and official social accounts.
