It’s no surprise that offensive coordinator Liam Cohen received some praise on a national scale following Sunday’s 51-point performance by the Bucs, especially given the circumstances in which it occurred.

At the end of the day, with Cohen calling the plays, Tampa Bay became a well-oiled machine that racked up yards and scored tons of points.

above good morning football monday morningNFL Network’s Peter Schrager named Liam Cohen Coach of the Week.

Schrager began outlining his reasoning by providing context for situations that Cohen and other members of the team had recently had to deal with.

“No team had a more eventful 10 days than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,” Schrager said. “Thursday’s heartbreaking loss to the Falcons, then we had to ship everything 1,200 miles from Tampa to New Orleans as Hurricane Milton was approaching the city, and then on Sunday. [they] They unleashed an offensive onslaught never seen before against the New Orleans Saints defense in the building. ”

The Buccaneers came to the Caesars Superdome, watched the Saints, and conquered them.

It was total domination on offense, brought about by the offensive mastermind, his playsheet, and his headset.

“My coach this week is Liam Cohen, offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,” Schrager added. “Yesterday, the Buccaneers had more total yards of offense than ever in a football game. Better than the Brady Bucs and all of the great Buccaneers teams of the early 2000s. From the first kickoff they chose to receive, they didn’t take their foot off the gas pedal.

“594 yards of offense. Bucky Irving and Sean Tucker combined for 277 yards on the ground. Baker Mayfield threw for 325 yards through the air. Look at what the Buccaneers did in Week 6. Let’s try it [against] The Saints became the first uniformed team to record 300 passing yards and 275 rushing yards in a road game, and are No. 1, No. 1, No. 1, No. 1 this week. [in offensive categories]. Liam Cohen is his name…and he’s the Coach of the Week for Week 6. ”

Whether or not Liam Cohen will remain with the Bucks after this season will be talked about based on how he unlocked Baker Mayfield, Chris Godwin, and the rest of the Bucks’ offense this season. If Cohen continues like this, teams will be lining up to interview him for head coaching jobs in the offseason, just as they have in college basketball. Only one completed in Tampa Bay.

But for now, the offense is scoring well and he’s starting to get some recognition as the leader of a group that’s doing well.
