Students at Storm Lake St. Mary’s High School recently donated funds to support a St. Mary’s High School graduate whose daughter is battling a medical challenge.

At the end of last school year, students at St. Mary’s High School held a special day to raise funds for Parker Goodbin, the daughter of Tasha (Dray) Goodbin, who graduated from the school in 2010. Parker, who turned two this week, had been on bed rest in hospital for six weeks after undergoing major surgery related to spinal stenosis, a condition that occurs when the spine fails to close during the first month of pregnancy.

Students at St. Mary’s High School had the opportunity to wear jeans on Friday if they chose to donate between 50 cents and $1 toward the cause. A total of $625 was raised.

Neely Bacon, a student at St. Mary’s High School, said, “We thought this was a great cause for our school to come together and support a former Panther and her family, not only financially but through thoughts and prayers. Our school wants to show love and support to Tasha and her family!”

The Goodbins currently live in Sioux City. Tasha’s parents, Steve and Jean Dray, live in Storm Lake and are parishioners of St. Mary Parish.
