Lansing, Michigan (WILX) – The Michigan High Speed Internet Authority (MIHI) provides $238 million in federal funding to bring high speed internet to providers in underserved locations statewide .
MIHI has initiated the application process to realize opportunities through the Broadband Infrastructure Network (ROBIN) grant program, paid through the Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund.
“The ROBIN grant program will provide the funding needed to develop and expand broadband infrastructure into underserved areas, helping many Michigan families and businesses,” said Susan Corbin, director of the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. Eligible applicants for ROBIN include internet service providers, providers licensed under the MI Telecommunications Act, franchise owners under the Uniform Video Service Local Franchise Act, or those currently providing broadband service in the state.
