There are many downsides to working in a tourist trap. Customers are typically demanding, argumentative, and at worst, angry at prices that are out of the server’s control.

TikToker $yd (@poorandhungry) She filmed a skit demonstrating what she regularly experiences when a customer refuses to pay the increased price but still wants to eat at a tourist destination. The video has been viewed over 480,000 times at the time of release.

Her skit, in which $yd played both a server and a customer, showed what it’s like to deal with an entitled customer who refuses to pay the listed price. This scenario revolved around the prices of burgers and beer, which in the customer’s opinion should be under her $10.

In a hypothetical exchange, she summarized why prices are more expensive than homes:

“You’re not there anymore. You’re here in Boston, one of the top three most expensive cities in the country,” she said.

Many servers responded in the comments, sharing how accurate a depiction her skit actually was.

“No, as a server who lives in a tourist city, this is very accurate. Like why would they think that way,” the user wrote.

“Woman from Oregon throws a fit about having to pay taxes in California and Oregon doesn’t have taxes. Are you okay? Go back…” another added. Ta.

“I’m so glad the manager didn’t come out at the end and give us an 85% discount,” joked a third server.

Traveling costs money.Price quote increased to 400 dollars Starting in 2022, travel within the U.S. costs a whopping $1,984 per person. Prices for air travel to Europe increased by 35% and for travel to Asia by 23%. He averages about $58 a day on food. The only way to bring these costs down is thorough research, and the things travelers want to do on vacation may be much more out of reach than previously realized.

What you need to do to reduce food costs Full-fledged budgeting. Tips include finding hotels that offer free breakfast, avoiding touristy areas, and splurging on lunch instead of dinner. All of these ideas will ruin anyone’s dream vacation.

Unfortunately, tourist stupidity is a phenomenon that will never go away. For example, Europeans often complain that Americans are loud and obnoxious. Tourists have also been known to lose marked trinkets. The lack of etiquette is so pervasive that a New York City concierge has published a book of horror stories for tourists. Servers bear the brunt of the rude behavior, but the antics spill over to those working nearby. It’s good to remember that no one gives you the right to act like a fool during the holidays.
