Friends of Portsmouth, Portsmouth’s premier festival organization, is ready to shine on stage for another successful concert series during the annual River Days event.

The group is known for hosting large-scale festivals and events, from record-breaking achievements to Winterfest, Glocktoberfest, Festivalfall, Independence Day and River Days. The group continues to work throughout the year to develop opportunities in downtown Portsmouth and the surrounding area.

River Days is scheduled for September 1-3 and features carnival rides and games, shops, food trucks and stalls, live music, parades, the River Days Queen Pageant and more.

“River Days is about community. Parades, pageants. Ta.

The music features Wild Son Entertainment on Friday at 7:00 PM and The Kentucky Headhunters on Friday at 9:00 PM.

“The Kentucky Headhunters are full of action. They bring it with them every time they play,” said Smith. “They put on a great show and are definitely a local favourite. Whenever they come here they bring huge crowds. I think Friday nights are the busiest.” So I think it’s a good start to the weekend. These guys are all great.”

Fleetwood Mac tribute band Silver Springs will continue the festival on Saturday at 7pm, followed by Starship featuring Mickey Thomas at 9pm.

“Starship has multiple number one hits and I think the energy from Friday will carry through into the weekend,” said Smith. “We know that a lot of people have commented, not just performance questions.”

Holly Forbes will be the festival’s final opening act at 6:30pm on Sunday, while Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band The Freebirds will close at 8:30pm on Sunday.

“Honestly, we were just looking for good rock and soul. The whole line-up is rock and soul. We didn’t do country this year. , thought it would be a nice way to end the weekend.”

“We also love the opening musical performance,” Smith explained. “The opener itself gives River Days a lot of uniqueness. We have a Fleetwood Mac tribute band, and the other two bands have a lot of local fans. The headliners are great, too. This one. I think it’s our best show to date, and we’re really excited and looking forward to a huge crowd each night.”

All musical activities have been moved from the riverside to the municipal lot on the corner of Washington and 4th.th street.

“When we held the event at this location in 2021, we had a lot of participants. Parking is closer and access is better. explained Mr Smith. “There are fewer participants along the river. I think it is more user-friendly.
