Workers dismantled the interior of the test track and removed panels from the outdoor track to re-imagine the Epcot ride.

Test track construction

June 17 was the last day to experience Test Track 2.0 before it was closed for construction. Construction barriers were erected the following day and work began. There are now four large blue bins installed outside the attraction.

Workers are filling these bins with material they’re removing from the line, which will eventually have its exterior canopy and signage removed and replaced.

The ride’s truck appears to be unchanged, but there were signs of a refurbishment: A panel had been removed from the underside of the truck behind the canopy supports.

All the doors to the attractions were left open for the crew.

Construction walls also enclose a nearby walkway. Two vans are parked outside the test track SIMporium.

As we passed by on the monorail, there was a wooden square just outside the gift shop door – the panel under the tracks on this side had also been removed.

During the re-envisioning, a Chevrolet show car will be parked outside at the test track.

The attraction opened in 1998, replacing World of Motion. The first major renovation took place in 2012. Disney announced the new renovation last year, saying it would take inspiration from World of Motion.
