YSR Congress leader and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy used to “press the button” – click the computer mouse – to transfer funds into the accounts of beneficiaries of various welfare schemes.

Every time, Jagan’s government took out full-page ads in newspapers and extensive advertisements in electronic and digital media to maximise publicity. Even with the regular announcement of pensions, Jagan got good publicity.

Now it is Telugu Desam Party leader and current Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s turn to distribute the funds to the beneficiaries of the welfare scheme.

In the first phase, Naidu will distribute pensions to different sections of people, including the elderly and the disabled.

But instead of “pressing a button” on a computer, Naidu chose to grab attention by personally going out to the people and distributing pensions.

Naidu has decided to distribute pensions to beneficiaries in Penumaka village in Mangalagiri constituency at their doorsteps on July 1.

According to an official statement, the Prime Minister will also interact with beneficiaries and others as part of the Praja Vedika scheme for pension distribution.

The state government is already set to provide pensions worth Rs 4,408 crore to 65,18,496 beneficiaries as part of this programme.

While Naidu will personally attend the programme at Penumaka, MPs and state legislators of the ruling party will also be actively participating in the programme at different places in the state.

Needless to say, there will be full page advertisements in newspapers and extensive promotion in electronic and digital media.

With the Prime Minister personally distributing the pensions to the beneficiaries, the programme will receive extensive media coverage.
