The New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) has announced that it has reached tentative agreements with two more hospitals – Maimonides and the University of Richmond Medical Center – ahead of Monday’s planned strike. The tentative agreement is in addition to the one reached on Sunday for union nurses at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
NYSNA President Nancy Hagans said at a news conference on Thursday that negotiations for more than 10,000 nurses at five other facilities are continuing into the week before the planned strike.
More than 1,300 nurses at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn have reached tentative agreements for three years, according to a NYSNA statement. A vote to ratify the deal will begin in Maimonides on Friday, according to the union. NYSNA encourages union members to vote yes to ratify the agreement. This will increase her nurse wages by 19.10% over her three years.
A tentative agreement was also reached at the University of Richmond Medical Center on Staten Island, unions said.
Negotiations continue with the Bronx Care Health System, Flushing Hospital Medical Center, Montefiore Bronx, Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai Morningside and West.
