On October 31, 1936, FDR held a rally at Madison Square Garden. here it is some of the things he said – See if it looks like someone you know.
“The people know that I hate war, and I know that the people hate war.”
“They (FDR’s opponents) had begun to see the United States government as a mere appendage to their problems. We now know that government by organized funds is just as dangerous as government by organized mobs. I know something.”
“Never in our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they are today. We welcome you.”
“I would like it to be said of my first government that the forces of selfishness and power-lust confronted them in it; of my second government I would like it to be said that in it these forces met their master. I want you to say that.”
“The American people know from four years of records that there is currently only one entrance to the White House: by the front door. Since March 4, 1933, the passkey to the White House has been There was only one. I carried it with me all the time. That key is still in my pocket.”
“Those who had the passkeys are not happy. Some are in despair.”
This is what Americans sound like when they are fighting an unjust system. Remember that Ronald Reagan supported FDR in his youth. left the Democratic Party Because he believed that the Democratic Party was no longer the best choice for average Americans. Like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard, Reagan switched to a party she believed could do a better job of taking care of the little guy.
And so could Reagan. Tough for elites. Here is what he looked like in 1964.
“This is the issue in this election: whether we believe in our ability to self-govern, or whether we abandon the American Revolution and allow a small intellectual elite in a faraway capital to plan our lives rather than let us plan our lives.” You have to confess that you have a good plan.” They are themselves. ”
And this is what he looked like in 1980.
“The central issue of this campaign is the direct political, personal, and moral responsibility of the White House and Democratic leadership in Congress for this unprecedented disaster that has befallen us. They say America is over, and they hope they will tell their children that Americans no longer have the will to deal with the problem. It is. It will be a sacrifice and one of the few opportunities.
“My fellow citizens, I completely reject that view. The American people, who have built the most generous and highest standard of living on earth, make the world a better place for others only by stepping back.” Those who believe we don’t need to lead our nation are willing to stand by and watch this great nation drift from one crisis to the next and self-destruct. The American people deserve better from the people entrusted with our nation’s highest offices, and we are united in our determination to do something about this.”
That’s the language of populism, the belief that Americans deserve a government that puts their interests first. Those are strong words. These may be harsh words. And you can see why Dick Cheney, who has never trusted the American people, would do it. opposed Reagan in 1976;

But it is the language of freedom, the language of free people who are not afraid to criticize their leaders, remove them, or replace them with better leaders. And if you hear this kind of strong American rhetoric and think it sounds like fascism, whether it’s Trump or Vance or any other American populist, then you’re either ignorant or you’re lying. Either it’s on or it’s on. FDR destroyed fascism. Reagan destroyed the Soviet Union. Trump has led the fight against the Chinese Communist Party.
Like FDR and Reagan, Trump is a freedom fighter. Like them, we believe that in addition to promoting freedom around the world, we need to make sure Americans are free at home. If you support American freedom, you support Trump.
