I wrote an article a while back on How Kinesiology Taping Helps Golfers, but never had the chance to try it out. I’ll walk you through it step by step and explain how it came to be.

What is Kinesio Taping?

Kinesiology Tape is an improved version of elastic sports tape that dynamically assists muscle function. Purpose of taping Tape can be used for: Stabilize or support injuries.

I played a fair amount of golf over the years, and in addition to some pain, I started having pain in the upper part of my right forearm (I’m left handed, so the forearm). I didn’t pay much attention until a few days later and I could barely pick up a cup of coffee.

Still, I didn’t have much of a clue until I started googling a few things (kinesiology taping for golfers, etc.) and it appeared to be a form of golfer’s (or tennis) elbow. For some reason I always thought the condition was elbow related. That is, not necessarily in a direct way.

More specifically, it is called “radial tunnel syndrome.” These symptoms include fatigue and a dull, aching pain in the upper forearm. Yep, it was a T-shirt too!

Pinched radial nerves most commonly occur in people who participate in sports (such as golf) or occupational activities that involve repetitive movements such as pushing, pulling, twisting, grasping, and flexing the wrist. However, it can be caused by direct trauma, fractures, or other means.

Like I said, it’s very painful for me and the first time I go through it I have no frame of reference. Your only clue is the pain and what causes it.

How Does Kinesio Taping Work for Golfers?

Basically, when the tape is applied and properly stretched, it lifts the skin, boosts blood flow and increases the amount of oxygen available to the muscles, releasing fatigue (and nerves) from the soft tissue beneath the lifted skin. pressure) is reduced. This lifting ability promotes blood flow and lymphatic drainage, allowing healing.

I only tried the MuscleAid tape as suggested in the video below.I recorded exactly the pattern shown in the video. If there are other body parts you’re considering taping, you’ll probably need to search for videos or articles about that particular technique.

After watching the video and following the proper position for the lower arm, it’s done. I really liked MuscleAid Tape (to be fair, I only tried this one brand. It has just the right amount of stretch and stickiness, and comes in a wide variety of colors.

I wore tape in the shower. It dried quickly and I didn’t have any issues. I’ve also slept with it on and had no problems. It is recommended that the tape be worn by her for 3-4 days. Remember, I was also playing golf while this tape was on.

I took it off after 4 days, which surprised me because it still hurt a little that day. But the next day it was so much better and 80% of the burning pain was gone🤗

Needless to say, I am now a taping fan. If the tape is about $12 and you have a few minutes of your time, I’d love to try it.
