variety confirm Ortega reportedly had to leave the project due to filming schedules for Season 2 of “Wednesdays.”
The news comes just one day after Ortega’s co-star Melissa Barrera was fired from the film over social media posts about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
Ortega’s resignation was not the result of Barrera’s firing. Sources told the outlet that Ortega’s departure was announced months before the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Aside from “Wednesday,” Ortega still needs to finish filming “Beetlejuice 2,” which was interrupted by a strike.

“Every person on earth, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or socio-economic status, is entitled to equal human rights, dignity and, of course, freedom. We believe that these groups are not their leaders, and that no governing body is immune from criticism.”
“I pray day and night for no more death, no more violence, peaceful coexistence. I will continue to speak up for those who need it most, for peace, security, human rights and freedom. I will continue to advocate for this.”
She concluded, “Silence is not an option for me.”
