Bison® supports JDM success with industry-leading blower solutions and integration expertise
Kent, Ohio – September 11, 2024 – JD Manufacturing, Inc. (JDM), a pioneer in high-performance snack food processing equipment, has partnered with Bison®, a leader in air movement and power transmission technology, to optimize its automatic batch fryer. Through this collaboration, we were able to increase the fryer’s production of kettle chips from 500 pounds per hour to 600 pounds per hour. The design enhancements also allow JDM customers to reduce fuel consumption and minimize environmental impact, giving JDM a significant competitive advantage in today’s market.
Solved:
JDM integrated Bison Nautilair® 12.3 inch high energy blower Pour into automatic batch fryer JD500CXI. Known for its industry-leading power density, this blower plays a vital role in increasing fryer power output and optimizing energy usage, enabling JDM to set a new standard in the industry. Ta.
A strong collaboration between Bison and JDM overcame the demanding requirements and achieved excellent results.
Overcoming challenges:
-
Preserve footprint size: Nautilair blowers fit into existing fryer enclosures without changing size.
-
Power compatibility: The blower was seamlessly integrated with JDM’s 480V, three-phase power setup.
-
Durability: Blower withstands the harsh conditions of a food production environment, including exposure to moisture, oil-contaminated air, and aerosolized corrosive substances.
Main achievements:
-
Improving production capacity: The fryer is currently processing up to 600 pounds of kettle chips per hour, a 20% improvement.
-
Economic and environmental benefits: The increased efficiency reduces fuel consumption and reduces JDM customers’ environmental impact.
-
JDM competitiveness: The successful integration of advanced blower technology positions JDM as a leader in innovative and efficient snack food processing solutions.
“Partnering with JD Manufacturing to enhance our fryer system has been a rewarding experience,” said Jordan Roney, senior applications engineer at Bison. “Our Nautilair blower technology has demonstrated its ability to support high-performance applications while maintaining efficiency. JDM has achieved such impressive results, reflecting both the innovation and reliability of our solutions. I’m glad I did.”
said Joshua Smith, JDM’s controls engineer. We upgraded from a 1 hp AC motor to a 7.5 hp DC motor, all within the same space. He also emphasized that the new blower integrates seamlessly into existing systems and requires no changes to the enclosure, power supply or other components. Since installation, the Nautilair blower has been working perfectly.
Additionally, Nautilair’s brushless DC controller greatly enhances the fryer, providing precise control at both low and high fire levels, as well as in pilot conditions. This provides JDM customers with significant economic benefits through reduced fuel consumption and increased efficiency, while minimizing environmental impact.
