Instagram is reportedly preparing new features to make chatting more fun and engaging. According to mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi, who frequently discovers hidden gems in Instagram’s code, the platform can participate in conversations, answer questions and offer tips on how to better express yourself. I am working on developing an AI chatbot.
Paluzzi shared a screenshot of its chatbot on Twitter (via) Engadget), showing that users can choose from 30 different personalities as AI companions. Chatbots also have names and profile pictures to make them feel more like real friends. Invite your chatbot into any conversation by simply tagging it with an @mention.

Chatbots can be a useful tool for those who struggle to write messages or find the right words. You can also liven up the chat with witty remarks and creative suggestions. Imagine asking a chatbot for advice on what to wear, where to go, how to respond to someone you like, and more.
There’s no official confirmation from Meta (formerly Facebook) about this feature, but it’s no surprise that Instagram is experimenting with AI chatbots. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed earlier this year that the company has a team dedicated to creating “AI personas” for messaging apps like Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp. Paluzzi has proven to be a credible source for Instagram leaks in the past. He was one of the first to notice the platform’s plans to introduce a paid authentication system, which Meta announced last month.
So when will the chatbot actually work? Paluzzi said the feature is still in development and subject to change before release, so it’s not yet. Not clear. But we definitely want to know how Instagram’s AI chatbot shapes our social interactions and even relationships. Stay tuned for further updates on this interesting feature.
