Delhi High Court, India stayed Leader of the Opposition and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail on Friday after a lower court granted him bail in a money laundering case filed against him and his party associates by India’s financial crimes probe agency, the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

High Court Recorded An oral order was issued that the final order would be reserved for two to three days. As a result, the court stayed the lower court order granting bail to Kejriwal till the final order was passed.

Added“The ED’s intention is not to implement the relief granted in any way. By Monday or Tuesday, the court will pass its order on the stay application and as per that order it will be decided as to when Arvind Kejriwal will appear before it.”

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Ministry of Education on March 22, 2024 in the Delhi Liquor Policy scam case. Kejriwal was accused of laundering money through the New Delhi Excise Policy, which was aimed at raising revenue and curbing alcohol counterfeiting. The policy was repealed in August 2022 due to criticism of procedural irregularities. The arrest was in connection with an investigation by the Ministry of Education which accused Kejriwal and other AAP leaders of laundering money under the policy. The Ministry of Education alleged that the policy was introduced to give unfair advantages to private sellers, who in return gave financial benefits to party leaders.
