There are various options to keep mosquitoes away.

“I recommend DEET to anyone looking to repel mosquitoes,” said Steve Fazekas, of the Palm Beach County Mosquito Control Department.

Many over-the-counter repellents contain DEET, which is approved by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Other options include citronella candles and certain botanicals such as lemongrass, which is used as a mosquito repellent scent.

“Maybe a big fan works better than a citronella candle,” says Fazikas.
