‘The Little Mermaid’ star Halle Bailey has opened up about her struggles after giving birth to her son Halo.
recently snapchat videoBailey revealed: “I have severe postpartum issues.” [depression] I don’t know if new moms can relate, but it’s really bad and it’s hard for me because if I’m away from my baby for more than 30 minutes at a time, he starts freaking out. ”
Bailey pointed out that her postpartum depression was mainly due to her body after giving birth. “The only difficult thing for me is to feel normal in my body,” she explained. “When I look in the mirror, I feel like I’m a completely different person. I feel like I have a whole new body, but I don’t know who I am.”
The 24-year-old admitted she doesn’t fully understand the challenges new moms may face.
She said: Going through it now, I feel like I’m swimming in an ocean with the biggest waves I’ve ever felt, and I’m trying not to drown. ”
Halle may have had bouts of depression, but she clarified that “it has nothing to do with my baby.” She emphasized, “It has everything to do with me and who I am now.”
Ms Bailey said any gossip about her and her family was a “trigger”. She said: “It’s honestly really crazy that people feel like they have to say hurtful things like that. Normally I’m fine. I see it — and it would hurt my feelings — but I… I don’t say anything. I just suck it up, swallow my pride, and wish the person the best of luck…but I couldn’t do that today because something was brewing in me that brought awareness. Because…even if you look up to certain people and you think they are famous and seem to be doing everything well, you don’t know what that person has gone through. I don’t know if anyone does, especially someone who literally just had a baby.”
Haro secretly gave birth to Halo last year.
