Gigi Song, President Biden’s controversial candidate for the Federal Communications Commission vacancy, is days away from Senate hearings and a final vote on her confirmation.
The stakes are high for the FCC, which is currently in a 2-2 draw between the Democratic and Republican nominees. However, Song, who is gay, failed to convince a majority of senators (including two Democrats) to support her nomination for policy reasons, so the usual constituency of allied left-leaning LGBT groups has failed. The ration is rolling out their last desperate line of attack: Opposition to Mr. Son is rooted in “homophobia and sexist terrorism.”
“Gigi’s nomination has come under fire recently because she is openly LGBTQ+ rather than based on her credentials or content,” Victory Institute, Human Rights Campaign, GLAAD, etc. Declared in a letter to the Senate “We call on all members of the Senate to condemn homophobia and sexism and consider Gigi’s nomination on its merits.”
Biden’s FCC nominee Gigi Song shared a tweet, calling Trump a ‘battered white supremacist president’
Many sympathetic media headlines followed, but here’s what the Left is trying to hide with such inflammatory rhetoric.
While it’s true that Song is the first person to be nominated by the FCC to come out as gay, that’s no reason to vote for or against her.
Expecting baseless accusations of homophobia to be the ultimate trump card may work for some awakened circles, but it doesn’t work for us. As, I am well aware of the liberal activists who instigate gender identity politics to accuse Republicans of anti-gay bigotry. They did it to Governor Ron DeSantis in Florida with the Parents’ Rights in Education Act. This time with Gigi Song in the US Senate.
Let’s take a look at just a few of the ‘benefits’ of Sohn joining the FCC.
Song openly revels in the idea of censoring some of the country’s biggest media networks, a worrying move for anyone who wants to be entrusted with regulating communications.
In a tweet just a few years ago, she questioned whether the Sinclair Broadcast Group, one of the nation’s largest media organizations, deserved to have its broadcasting license revoked by the FCC, and made a proposal to the Senate. hold a hearing On the “negative impact” of Fox News’ “state-sponsored propaganda” on democracy.
Already posted by Sohn as an influential leader in the telecoms space, these tweets are a reminder of what kind of censorship Sohn has in the Democratic-led FCC at a time when Big Tech is already silencing conservative voices online. It raises genuine concerns as to whether the rule will be upheld.
This has nothing to do with Song’s sexual orientation.
Then there’s Sohn’s ethically questionable involvement in a scheme by an app called Locast (she was on a three-person committee) that captured and retransmitted (stealed) broadcast signals without the broadcaster’s permission. .
The low cast finally enforced by a federal judge to close and pay a $32 million settlement. But just one day after Biden named Son to his FCC, the station agreed to reduce the settlement to just his $700,000.
Senators are right to question whether Sohn used her pending powers as FCC commissioner to influence the broadcasters she may soon have regulatory powers.
Again, this has nothing to do with Song’s sexual orientation.
Biden’s FCC nominee joins board of group against anti-sex trafficking efforts
Then there’s Sohn’s generally far-left views. This is an absolutely fair game to evaluate for anyone seeking a powerful, regulation-driven government appointment. In a rare crossover, the Fraternal Order of Police Opposed to nomination of Mr. Son about her racist views on defunding the police.
She has repeatedly slandered Republicans. Most recently, reports surfaced around Song’s seat on the Board of Directors of the Electronic Frontier Foundation. The nonprofit has devoted a shocking amount of time and resources in recent years against overwhelmingly bipartisan legislation passed in 2018 to protect sex trafficking victims. reason that it discriminates against
All of this paints a disturbing picture of Mr. Son’s ideological views on politics and public policy.

Not one of these valid concerns is addressed in the Victory Institute’s Pearl Crutch Letter on homophobia. Ironically, her letter urges her Senate to focus on the “merits” of her nomination, but the intent is that if for any reason you oppose Mr. You are complicit in prejudice.
Fortunately, Senate Republicans aren’t in favor of it, and I hope moderate Democrats who share their concerns aren’t either.
Equal protection under the law does not mean protection from due scrutiny. It is an insult to the LGBT community for the Left to play crybaby homophobic games and falsely frame someone as a victim of their sexual orientation.

While it’s true that Song is the first person to be nominated by the FCC to come out as gay, that’s no reason to vote for or against her. Millions of her LGBT Americans (I’m sure Gigi Song included) want to be successful based on the merits of their entitlements, not their sexuality.
So, with all due respect to the regular players of the Gay Left: Stop preaching about non-existent homophobia and let the Senate do its job.
