GHA Finance Director transferred to BCA. Appointing a successor to GHA is “not intended”
The health authority’s finance director has moved to the Border and Coast Guard Agency, where he will lead the finance team.
In response to questions from GBC, the government said it had no intention of appointing a new finance director for the GHA.
Charles Patron was appointed GHA’s finance director last year on a salary of just over £100,000 and a three-year contract.
The creation of this post was one of the seven points announced in the GHA reform program ‘Reset, Restart, Recovery’.
The government said a professionally qualified finance director will provide financial management and leadership, support the implementation of new projects and ensure cost effectiveness across the GHA.
However, it was confirmed to GBC that Mr Patron will be moving to the Border and Coast Guard Agency, his remuneration terms will remain unchanged and he will lead the finance team in a consulting role.
In response to questions, a spokesperson said this was a strategic decision in line with the government’s “objective of optimal resource allocation across public services”.
They said the government “recognized its current robustness and the transition to BCA was deemed necessary”. [the] GHA Financial and Management System”.
The government said it had no intention of replacing Patron, but said the matter would continue to be considered by the GHA board.
The company announced that existing staff from GHA’s finance team will continue to serve as Director of Finance on an interim basis, as they did prior to Patron’s appointment.
Number Six said team members will work with the GHA Executive Director, executive members and senior management to uphold financial governance and accountability.
