The bodies of Jean Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa are no longer being claimed.
New Mexico Medical Investigators’ Office Website Removed the name from the list of “Unclaimed deceased”. This is said to be “people who have been identified or have no neighbors.”
Their names were still on the list as of Thursday, but a medical examination room official said, “In many cases, Omi has been in contact with legal close relatives and plans are underway to transport the body to a funeral home or burial site.”
It is unclear whether Hackman’s family claimed their bodies. Jean and Betsy don’t have children together, but he has three children, his ex-wife, the Faye Martha.
The bodies of Hackman and Arakawa were found at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico on February 26th.
The bodycam footage from the death scene was recently released by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.
In the video, a law enforcement officer is at Hackman’s residence after a 911 call is received. The footage comes from several deputies walking outside the house.
In one video obtained by “Extra,” deputies are seen interviewing one of the workers who found the body.
The groundkeeper gets emotional as he talks about Jean and his Betsy, saying, “I’m attached to all these people, do you know? They treat me really well, she was a lover.”
There is also a video of the aide talking to Jean’s daughter Elizabeth on the phone, and a video about dealing with the remains of a dead dog in the house along with Jane and Betsy.
She says, “Um, I think I’ll cremate the dog and bury it with Betsy.” She also asks, “If the dog were wearing a collar, can I save it for me?”
Betsy is believed to have died a few days before the Hantavirus gene. The gene died of heart disease from advanced Alzheimer’s disease and as a contributing factor.
