FIFA recently announced the final dates and number of matches for the 2026 World Cup.
The United States, Canada and Mexico will co-host the quadrennial tournament in 2026.
On March 14, 2023, FIFA took to its official Twitter account to declare that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will host a 48-team edition for the first time ever.
The governing body also announced when the finals will take place and the format of the next four-year tournament.
FIFA, which announced the dates for the first-ever 48-team edition, wrote that the tournament would feature “12 groups of four”, with “the top two teams and the top eight teams in third place” advancing to the round of 32.
