If Crystal Geyser is your favorite water brand, you may be in for a shocking discovery.
As TikTok’s water sommelier points out, not all bottled water is created equal: They all vary in taste, texture, and even how they are absorbed by your body.
In a viral video that now has over 500,000 views, water researcher Oasis (@live__oasis) takes a closer look at Crystal Geyser, a popular brand that markets itself as a sustainable, affordable bottled water company.
“We’ve been seeing Crystal Geyser more frequently recently and realize it’s different from other hot springs,” an Oasis representative said.
A quick glance at the screen reveals that the company has a “poor” rating of 16 out of 100. If that were a high school grade, it would definitely be a failing grade.
Officials note that the company sources its water from various points across the United States.
Whether this information is surprising or not is unclear, but the vast majority of bottled water comes from wells or municipal sources within the United States, despite touting images of springs or mountains that make it seem like the water comes from somewhere far away.
The water sources are spread across states such as Arizona, California, the Carolinas, Colorado, Florida, Indianapolis, Jersey, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Pennsylvania, South Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin, New Jersey, and New York. Business Insider reported.

Another unique feature of Crystal Geyser is its high concentrations of certain minerals, such as chromium and bromate.
“Crystal Geyser Alpine Spring Water is bottled directly at the source, with no blending, transportation, or purification taking place at our tap, minimizing the risk of contamination. All Crystal Geyser Alpine Spring Water products comply with FDA guidelines and are well below the legal contaminant limits set forth therein,” a Crystal Geyser representative said in an email.
“Regarding CG Roxanne’s Benton, Tennessee plant referenced in the Live Oasis video, we want to clarify that this facility does not supply the water for the gallon-sized product featured.
It is important to note that the referenced report page includes a disclaimer stating: “IMPORTANT: These results have not been internally verified by Oasis.”
Commenters shared their thoughts on the clip.
“He’s destroying people’s favorite water body after body here,” one commenter wrote.
“But is it better than Arrowhead Water? … Yep, it sure is delicious lol,” another person chimed in.
“I would trust a water sommelier over some random post,” one person said.

While Oasis puts all this information together and provides the context you need, it’s important to note that they don’t do the research themselves.
“These results have not been internally verified by Oasis. All data is provided by the applicable companies and may be estimated based on scientific data. Ratings and scores are subject to significant change based on new data/research,” the disclaimer states.
