Anthony Scaramucci, a former communications director for the Trump administration, argued that Biden needs to do more to prove he’s fit to serve as president for another four years.

“I went to President Biden’s fundraiser in East Hampton and I thought he did a pretty good job today reading off the teleprompter and meeting with people,” Scaramucci said, “but that’s not going to be enough to prove to the American people that he’s going to be in office for another four years.”

The comments came after the first presidential debate between Biden and former President Trump last week, with many observers and commentators criticizing the president’s performance and questioning his ability to continue campaigning.

The performance has led some Democrats to say Biden has proven he is not qualified to go head-to-head with Trump in November and to call on the president to drop out of the race.

Biden’s campaign has so far pushed back against the criticism, acknowledging his poor performance in the debate but vowing to remain in the presidential race.

But Scaramucci, who served briefly in the Trump administration after leaving office and was a frequent critic of the former president, suggested Biden needed to do more to prove he was qualified to stay on in office.

“President Biden needs to speak unscripted and handle fair but tough questions (further demonstrations of his teleprompter reading abilities will not assuage my concerns). Four ideas come to mind,” Scaramucci said, citing the ideas of his friend Whitney Tilson.

The suggestions included Biden holding an hour-long press conference at the White House every week before the election, giving an interview to “60 Minutes,” meeting with the New York Times editorial board to explain why the paper was wrong to call for his resignation and appearing on late-night television.

“This can all be completed within the next week. There’s no time to waste,” Scaramucci said.

The Biden campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
