Eastbound Loop 1604 at I-10 on far Northwest Side to be closed this weekend

San Antonio – Motorists, prepare for yet another major construction road closure in the North West this weekend.

As part of the Loop 1604 North Widening Project, TxDOT will close several sections from 9pm on Friday, June 21st to 5am on Monday, June 24th, weather permitting.

Main lanes of I-10 will remain open, as well as westbound Loop 1604. The closure will allow crews to continue work on the interchange poles.

The closures include:

• Loop 1604 eastbound main lanes, from the Vance Jackson Road exit ramp to the Rock Hill-Selma Road on-ramp

• Loop 1604 westbound main lanes, I-10 interchange – Left lane only

• Take the Loop 1604 Eastbound exit ramp to I-10 Eastbound

• Take the I-10 Eastbound exit ramp to Loop 1604 Eastbound

• Take the Loop 1604 Westbound exit ramp to I-10 Westbound

• I-10 eastbound vehicle collection system at Loop 1604 interchange

• Cloverleaf ramps from Loop 1604 westbound to I-10 eastbound and I-10 eastbound to Loop 1604 eastbound

• I-10 westbound frontage road between Loop 1604 westbound frontage road and the La Cantera exit ramp (Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights only)

Access to businesses around the interchange remains available. Road closures may be lifted throughout the weekend as work is completed. Detour information for the closed sections is provided below.

These are the minimum road closures necessary for the planned work. All road closures are subject to change and modification as necessary. Local police will be directing traffic during the closures. Drivers should plan ahead for delays. Maps and detour information are provided below.

Detour information

Loop 1604 eastbound main lanes and I-10 eastbound

All travelers traveling in the main lanes of Loop 1604 EB should exit at the Vance Jackson Road exit ramp and proceed to the Loop 1604 EB frontage road. Traffic may re-enter the freeway at the Lockhill Selma Road on-ramp. Travelers traveling in the main lanes of Loop 1604 EB accessing I-10 EB may use the Loop 1604 EB frontage road which connects to the I-10 EB frontage road and enter the main lanes of I-10 EB at the on-ramp just past the interchange.

Loop 1604 westbound main lanes to I-10 eastbound and I-10 westbound

All travelers accessing I-10 EB from Loop 1604 WB should exit onto the Loop 1604 WB frontage road, proceed through the I-10 interchange, turn left at the signal onto the I-10 EB frontage road lane, continue on the frontage road and merge onto the I-10 EB main lane at the next available on-ramp. All travelers accessing I-10 WB from Loop 1604 WB should exit onto the Loop 1604 WB frontage road, proceed onto the I-10 WB frontage road and merge onto the on-ramp just past the interchange onto I-10 WB.

I-10 Eastbound to Loop 1604 Eastbound

All travelers wishing to access Loop 1604 EB from the main lanes of I-10 EB should take exit 556 B, follow the I-10 EB frontage road to the Loop 1604 interchange, and turn right at the traffic light onto the Loop 1604 EB frontage road. Traffic can use the Lockhill Selma Road onramp to enter the main lanes of Loop 1604 EB.

I-10 westbound to Loop 1604 eastbound

All travelers accessing Loop 1604 EB from the main lanes of I-10 WB should take the frontage road exit ramp (just north of UTSA Boulevard) and continue on the frontage road to the Loop 1604 EB frontage road. Traffic can use the Lockhill Selma Road entrance ramp to enter the Loop 1604 EB main lanes.

No major construction closures are scheduled for the week of the July 4th holiday.
