Compass has acquired a 40-year-old brokerage firm and a team of about 40 agents, making it the first office of a publicly traded brokerage firm in Santa Cruz County, the company announced Wednesday.

Compass made its first foray into Santa Cruz County with the acquisition of Northern California brokerage Monterey Bay Properties, the company announced Wednesday.
The 40-year-old brokerage firm, which tallied 81 trading sides and $140 million in deals last year, plans to dissolve 40 agents under the flag of Compass following the news of the acquisition.
“The Monterey Bay Properties team of approximately 40 agents is one of the best at the job and we are delighted to welcome them to Compass,” Compass California President Wendy Forsyth said in a statement. I couldn’t be more excited to do it,” he said.
The brand’s foray into Santa Cruz County further expands Northern California’s reach to include Lake Tahoe, Wine Country, Easy Bay, San Francisco, The Peninsula, Silicon Valley, and the Monterey Peninsula.

Hickey was born and raised in Santa Cruz County and served as president of the Santa Cruz County Association of Realtors in 2013. He currently serves on the board of directors of MLSlistings.
