Located on Cornwall’s south coast, Falmouth continues to evolve its offering to travelers looking for an upscale experience, from wellness to new skills, cooking and cocktails. We choose some of the best:
St. Michael’s Resort Hydraulic Experience
Stopping the throwing of stones from the golden crescent moon at Gyllyngvase Beach, St. Michael’s Resort has expanded its luxurious accommodation and spa facilities in recent years. It currently boasts the largest spahydrotherapy pool in the southwest, offering 21 stations with heated to 35c and jets, targeting all major muscle groups. Prices start at £50 for two hours.

It is also said to be the only Cornish Sea Salt Steam Room in the world, including a Finnish sauna and a Rainforest Steam Room. Outside, guests can sweat in the barrel sauna or in the 12-seater hot tub that opened last year. There is also an outdoor bar and live music on summer weekends.
Upgraded spa for merchant etiquette
This adult-only, 4-star Victorian retreat is less than a 10-minute walk from the ocean and has recently updated the pool and gym, but the Linen Room Spa offers everything from 30-minute brown treat penpers (both 74 pounds) to things like Pool and gyms and gyms and gyms and gyms from am-4pm. Fizz (£79). Guests can also treat themselves overnight. My favourite is the Land Rubber Room, featuring its own 30m private deck and jacuzzi and a private subtropical garden.
Cultural Culinary Excellence
Along the way along the stairs to Falmouth’s custom housekey, Culture is an intimate cellar-like dining room opened in June 2022 by South African chef and owner Halton S.P. He runs the culture with his wife Petronella. The restaurant is recognized by the Michelin Guide and offers sophisticated meals that showcase local ingredients and innovative dishes. The menu occurs almost daily, with each dish telling stories from trips to the farm, to sails in the bay to surfing lizards. Think of it as growing outdoors on a golden grain course, a venison grown outdoors in the wild of Moor, or a Hilton signature bread made from ancient types of wheat grown on a farm three miles away. Lunch costs £52 per person. Dinner is £80.

Sand duck
This boutique guesthouse may not have a spa or pool, but instead offers a more intimate, luxurious experience with minimalist Scandinavian interiors, high quality furniture, soft linens and classy artwork. Located a 15-minute walk from both Gyllyngvase Beach and the town’s shops and restaurants, the guesthouse is renowned for its warm and courteous service provided by its hosts. With just eight rooms (with all hypnotists and Egyptian cotton sheets), Sandhi Duck is perfect for those looking for luxury on a smaller, more affordable scale (rooms start at £110). Room 7 was renovated in 2021 and features a freestanding copper tub, with eight rooms on the top floor offering perhaps the best views, reaching out to Falmouth Bay.
Private Yacht Charter
Several private yacht charter services have emerged over the past few years, allowing guests to explore Cornwall’s coastline and privacy in style and privacy, from St. Anthony’s head to Falmouth and across the water to discover dolphins in Falmouth Bay. For example, Bowman Yacht Charters Cornwall and Freewinds Yacht Charters offer skipper or bareboat charters (for experienced sailors) on boats ranging from 6-8 barscraft, encouraging crews to engage (or sit and enjoy the view) as they please. For foodies, Blue River Table combines Tetra, a three-hour trip, a beautifully restored Cornish Motor launch, to serve brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner cruises as guests float around Carrick Road at an east feast of sustainable, locally-grown Cornish cuisine. The boat is licensed so guests can also enjoy the tipple of choice. Blue River also offers individual recruitment for more intimate foodie cruises.

Artisan Workshop
Falmouth has a wide range of craftsmen’s workshops that allow town visitors to learn new craft skills such as pottery and jewelry making from local artists. For example, hidden in the town’s quirky old high streets, Inspire Makers offers a wide range of jewelry workshops, ranging from seaglass jewelry to studs and rings. Nearby Starg Laser allows visitors to design and decorate personalized ceramic items over coffee. On the town’s Church Street, the Polyarts Center (Falmouth facility since the foundations of 1833) gives the opportunity to explore everything from costumed life drawings to master classes in hand-building ceramics and muskets. Helen recently launched a “make your own wedding dress” workshop.
